Call by Name | workshops

A project devoted to the assistance given by Poles to Jews during the occupation. It presents extraordinary stories of solidarity, heroism and ordinary humanity. During the “Call by Name” workshops students uncover the stories of Poles who were ready to risk their lives and those of their loved ones to save their Jewish neighbors. Participants learn about the scale of German repressions against Polish citizens on the occupied territories.

The central theme of the workshops is a discussion on the forms of institutionalized and spontaneous assistance provided by Poles to Jews. The classes also serve as a supplement to the “Called by Name” project, which commemorates Poles who saved Jews during World War II.
