Education - Instytut Pileckiego

As an institute, we specialize in the history of the 20th-century’s totalitarian and authoritarian regimes. We support modern approaches to history education through historical reenactments, memoirs of victims of repression, and board games.

We invite young people to take part in history workshops, where they work with primary sources and gain behind-the-scenes insight into the work of historians, Polish language specialists, and even archaeologists. Drawing on our collections and recorded testimonies, we explore both the local and nationwide dimensions of broader historical processes. We help students understand historical processes, foster social awareness, and encourage independent interpretation of archival materials.

Here you can explore our history workshops for young and older students. One of them “Post-war Dilemmas” – take place at 82 Sienna Street, while the remaining workshops are held at 11 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street.

We invite teachers and educators to download the educational materials we have carefully prepared to enrich and supplement the core curriculum. We also encourage you to participate in our educational projects, where you can expand your professional network and develop your teaching methods.

Witold Pilecki – Soldier of the Republic of Poland

We invite you to a workshop dedicated to the turbulent era of the two world wars, during which the Institute’s patron, Witold Pilecki, lived. As a soldier, he took part in these struggles while serving in as many as seven military units. What were these units called, where did they fight for Poland, and which medals was Pilecki awarded? You will learn all this and more during our workshop!
