Witold Pilecki – Soldier of the Republic of Poland - Instytut Pileckiego

Witold Pilecki – Soldier of the Republic of Poland

We invite you to a workshop dedicated to the turbulent era of the two world wars, during which the Institute’s patron, Witold Pilecki, lived. As a soldier, he took part in these struggles while serving in as many as seven military units. What were these units called, where did they fight for Poland, and which medals was Pilecki awarded? You will learn all this and more during our workshop!

Using replica uniforms and weapons – which participants will be able to try on and handle – we present the military service of Polish Army officer Colonel Witold Pilecki. The workshop is set against the backdrop of 20th-century Polish history: the Polish-Soviet War of 1918–1921, the 1939 defensive campaign, the Warsaw Uprising, and the odyssey of the 2nd Polish Corps.
