Henryk Postek (?–?) - Instytut Pileckiego
Henryk Postek was commemorated by the Pilecki Institute on 30 June 2019 in Stoczek.
He lived with his parents and seven siblings in Stoczek, then in the district of Sokołów-Węgrów. His family had a farm. During the German occupation, his parents – Julianna and Stanisław – gave shelter to 17 Jews who had escaped from the ghettos in Warsaw and Stoczek or managed to flee after the uprising in the death camp of Treblinka II. There were 11 people in one of the hideouts in the courtyard and 6 in another. On 5 September 1943, German gendarmes arrived at the Posteks’ farm. Henryk and his brother Wacław were the only children to stay at home that day with their parents; the rest were in school, mushrooming or had fled at the sight of the Germans. Following a meticulous search, the gendarmes found both hideouts and the Jews, whom they led out and shot dead. Henryk was arrested together with his father Stanisław and brother Wacław and sent to the Pawiak prison in Warsaw. Shortly thereafter, both brothers were released: they managed to come back home to Stoczek and tell their siblings about the tragic events of 5 September. Unfortunately, a few months later, the Germans rearrested both Henryk and Wacław. Their fate remains unknown to this day.
