International Teachers and Educators Program 2023 | Call for participants
The 4th edition of the International Teachers and Educators Program is now open. We invite teachers and educators from all over the world to participate. This year we are focusing on issues related to genocide, totalitarianism, their historical genesis and contemporary relevance in connection to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Forming the conscience of the world. History education on totalitarianism and genocide
The International Teachers and Educators Program is a 3-day online conference that will take place on 12–14 May 2023, which aims to create a community of engaged teachers and educators. After the conference we plan to organize a series of seminar meetings to discuss the contemporary trends and initiatives in history education. So far, 64 participants from 29 countries have participated in our program. Join the community of ITEP graduates!
Teaching about the history of totalitarianisms and genocide is a great responsibility. We owe this to the victims of Communism and National Socialism. We owe this to the present and future generations. As the new war in the heart of Europe has shown, even today peace is not guaranteed.
During the ITEP conference you will:
- Get an insight into the machinery of totalitarian systems operating in Poland during WWII and after
- learn about the Russian invasion of Ukraine through the lens of unique, unpublished sources – eye-witness testimonies collected by the Lemkin Center
- get familiar with the thought and mission of Rafał Lemkin, the author of the term “genocide” and the Genocide Convention
- have an opportunity to develop professionally by exchanging experiences with specialists from numerous countries during discussion sessions
- enhance your methodological techniques during workshops and lectures
Who can apply?
We invite school teachers, especially of history and social sciences, educators employed at museums and places of memory, as well as all those involved in historical and civic education of the youth.
