History Memory and Testimony Life stories of Israeli pilot’s Holocaust survivor
On 14 October 2021 at 12.00 CEST, we are holding an online seminar entitled “History Memory and Testimony Life stories of Israeli pilot’s Holocaust survivor.” The panelist: Dr. Lea Ganor (Mashmaut Center in Israel).
In the mid-1950’s, the approximately 300-aircrew members positioned at key points of decision making within the Israeli Air Force (IAF) included 136 Holocaust survivors. During their service in the IAF, most of them remained silent about their experiences during the Holocaust even at the price of burying their own personal experiences. In their late 70’s and 80’s, some members of this group began sharing memories. The lecturer will try to show the relationship between their Memory landscapes, past experiences and their decision to enlist in the Air Force.
The online seminar in the form of a webinar will be held in English on zoom.us, with simultaneous translation into Polish available.
