Biographical note

Dr. Hab. Iur. A specialist in public international law, and the author of more than 150 publications, including the monograph “Human and Non-Human Targets in Armed Conflicts”, CUP 2022, and “Criminal Responsibility for the Crime of Aggression”, Routledge 2013. She is a Member of the Board of the European Society of International Law, the President of the Network on Humanitarian Action, and an expert of the OSCE Moscow Mechanism. Prof. Grzebyk is also a Member of the Legal Advisory Committee to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and has represented Poland in proceedings before the International Court of Justice.

Research/academic interests

  • public international law (with a particular focus on law of armed conflict, law on the use of force, international criminal law, and international courts and tribunals).

Awards and honors

  • First Prize in the Best History Book competition organized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2025);
  • Bohdan Winiarski Scholarship awarded by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London and the Lauterpacht Center for International Law at the University of Cambridge (2014); 
  • Mentoring program of the Foundation for Polish Science (Mentor: Prof. Marco Sassoli, University of Geneva) (2013);
  • “Start” scholarship for young researchers from the Foundation for Polish Science (2013);
  • “Start” scholarship for young researchers from the Foundation for Polish Science (2012);
  • Manfred Lachs Award for the monograph “Odpowiedzialność karna za zbrodnię agresji” as the best book on international law published in 2010 (category: debut) (2012);
  • three-year scholarship for outstanding young scholars from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2011);
  • First Prize in the 10th edition of the Prof. Remigiusz Bierzanek competition for the best master’s thesis (2006).
