Biographical note

A Professor of the Humanities, and a research fellow at the Pilecki Institute’s Center for Totalitarian Studies since 2021.

He specializes in German history and Polish-German relations in the 19th and 20th centuries.

He has recently published, among others: 

• “Długi Kulturkampf. Niemieckie i pruskie wojny kulturowe przeciw Polsce 1795–1918” (Warszawa 2020); 
• “Prusy. Pięć wieków” (Warszawa 2020);
• “III Rzesza Niemiecka. Nienawiść i nowoczesność” (Kraków 2021);
• “Hohenzollernowie. Władcy Prus” (Warszawa 2022);
• “Piekielni sąsiedzi” (with K. Rak, Warszawa 2024);
• “Histeria i pogarda. Antypolonizm w Republice Weimarskiej” (Warszawa 2025).

In the years 2021–2024, while working at the Center for Totalitarian Studies, he implemented a project related to the study of the history of anti-Polonism in the Weimar Republic.

Prof. Kucharczyk was also the Chairman of the Council of the National Program for the Development of Humanities (2022–2024).

A member of the Council of the Institute of Western Affairs (2016–2023), and a member of the Council of the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation (2016–2024). As a representative of the President of the Republic of Poland, he sits on the Board of Curators of the Zakłady Kórnickie Foundation. Social advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland since 2025.
