Sebastian Rakowski - Instytut Pileckiego
Sebastian Rakowski, born in Otwock in 1978. Graduate of the Institute of History at the University of Warsaw. Regional historian. Organizer of cultural and social events. He worked at the Museum of the Otwock Region in the years 2001–2019. Chair of the Society of the Friends of Otwock [Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Otwocka] since 2009 and partner of the Social Committee for the Commemoration of Otwock and Karczew Jews [Społeczny Komitet Pamięci Żydów Otwockich i Karczewskich]. For his work to commemorate the local Jewish community, the city honored him with the distinction “Defending Memory”. He is currently directing work on exhibitions at the “Stacja Muzeum” museum. The author of publications dedicated to the history of Otwock and the so-called “Otwock line”. His research focuses on studying the history of the local Home Army structures, the broadly understood German terror and the extermination of Jews. He is also the editor of several source publications released as part of the “Otwock w prasie” series. In addition to his articles and academic studies, he is also the author of popular-academic publications on the history of Otwock.
