Commended for promoting Poland in Israel
Seven Israelis involved in the promotion of Poland in Israel have been awarded the title of “Ambassadors of the Good Name of Poland”. This commendation is granted by the Pilecki Institute and the Polish Institute in Tel Aviv.
The ceremony, which accompanied the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence, was held on 7 November 2018 at the Museum of Art in Tel Aviv. The awards were given by the Director of the Pilecki Institute – Dr. Wojciech Kozłowski, the Director of the Polish Institute in Tel Aviv – Joanna Hofman, and the Polish Ambassador to Israel – Marek Magierowski. Present at the event was the guest of honor – Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Magdalena Gawin.
The Awardees:
- Adina Bar-on – an artist and the initiator of a Polish-Israeli project for students
- Dr. Ilona Dworak – head of the Polish-Israeli Friendship Society
- Gil Faran – head of the Organisation of Israeli Guides of Delegations to Poland
- Dalit Haramati – a dancer and instructor who conducts Polish-Israeli dance projects
- Zvi Kelner – the Director of the Polish-Israeli Friendship Society
- Elroy Knebel – a businessman operating in Poland, who organizes cultural and economic events promoting Poland in Israel
- Dr. Marcos Silber – a lecturer at the Department of Jewish History at the University of Haifa and head of the Program for the Study of Polish-Jewish History and Culture.
The event was accompanied by a concert of the Andrzej Jagodzinski Trio, who played jazz arrangements of pieces by Frédéric Chopin.
